schist is believed to have been derived from an intrusive igneous rock, probably a quartz monzonite or quartz diorite porphyry. This rock is of economic importance, for it contains the gold-bearing quartz veins in the La Paz district from which the placer deposits are derived. Granite.
To extract the metal from the gold- bearing quartz rock, a determination is made as to the average grain size of the gold. Often these grains are microscopic, and are not discernible by eye. Once
Due to the decompression it undergoes, quartz and gold are precipitated in the hole. Pressure shadow. Pressure shadows occur on every scale Folding rocks form gaps in the bends. Again pressure shadows are formed and fluid is sucked into the holes to deposit quartz and gold there. Fluids in faults are often high in CO 2. When
In most gold bearing veins, the gold does not form into well-developed crystals. Unlike quartz which often forms good crystals, gold requires a very specific set of circumstances to grow into good crystal shapes. Few gold deposits produce good crystal specimens, as most gold forms naturally as irregular masses and lumps.

Oct 11, 2009The short answer is that the conditions and the hydrothermal solutions that are needed for the deposition of gold are also right for the deposition of quartz. Of course, quartz can be deposited over a wide range of conditions, unlike gold which is why most gold deposits contain quartz also but most quartz deposits do not contain gold!

To dissolve, or partially dissolve the quartz from around gold, silver, etc you need to use fairly concentrated HF and then the process will be slow, a day or two or more, depending upon on how much you want to remove. Massive quartz (bull quartz), chalcedony and opal are attacked much more quickly than the surface of regular quartz crystals.
